Educational Models – Simulation content for industrial training
Educational Models provides a digital twin package that brings physical model scenarios directly into Machines Simulator. Each model is preconfigured in automatic and manual demo modes, offering a quick visual understanding of how the scene should behave once programmed. Users can interact manually through an intuitive control panel or run the system automatically.
For full control, scenes also support live mode, reacting in real time to PLC signals via industrial communication drivers. Compatible with all major PLC brands and protocols, including Siemens, Allen-Bradley and Omron, students can safely test their programs using real-world tools.
The models are inspired by real-world educational training systems commonly used in industrial automation learning environments. Ideal for educational institutions and students, this solution overcomes the limitations of costly physical models by enabling simultaneous, risk-free learning from school or home.
To use this module, you must first own a license for the Machines Simulator Suite.
What is included in Digital Twin Package for Educational Training?
3D Models Library for Reuse and Customization
All 3D models used in the scenes are fully available ready to reuse, customize, and integrate into your own simulations.
Prebuilt Digital Twin Scenes
The package initially includes 9 digital twins, simulating real-world industrial processes for hands-on learning.
Real-Time PLC Simulation and Compatibilty
Provides real-time graphics, replicating machine behavior and system responses, and is fully compatible with the communication drivers.
Free Updates with New Educational Models
Additional scenes will be integrated into the package over time at no extra cost, featuring new industry-relevant scenarios as developed.
Safe and Interactive Training Environment
Provides a safe, virtual space to test programming without risking physical damage to equipment.
Applications & Use Cases
Classification with
Sensors and Cameras
The scenes includes various classification methods, allowing users to identify and organize pieces based on attributes like color, size, or type. Tools such as sensors or cameras are used for automated decision-making, providing a hands-on introduction to sorting and categorization in industrial settings.
Assembly with Grippers
and Robotic Arms
Assembly tasks involve basic component joining, such as attaching lids to containers. Using virtual tools like robotic arms and grippers, users can practice precision and synchronization, learning to coordinate movements for efficient assembly processes.
Material Storage and
Shelf Management
The storage process centers on placing pieces into shelves until they are full. A control interface displays shelf occupancy (e.g., binary sequences indicating filled slots) and step counters for tracking filling progress, providing practical experience in managing and optimizing storage systems.
Sequential Automation
Workflows
Sequential processes demonstrate coordinated operations across multiple stages, such as drilling followed by inspection. Users learn to manage step-by-step workflows in an automated line, ensuring smooth transitions between each phase of the process.
Manual Process
Control Training
A virtual control console allows for manual manipulation of the scenes, featuring buttons, selectors, emergency stops, and start/stop functions. This enables users to control actions like moving trays or gripping pieces step by step, offering a detailed understanding of manual intervention in automated systems.
Conveyor-based
Material Handling
Material management involves transferring pieces between stations using conveyors, dispensers, or gantries. This use case focuses on optimizing workflow and coordination, helping users understand how to efficiently handle materials in a simulated industrial environment.
Who is this add-on for?
Technical Schools and Training Centers
A flexible and scalable resource to complement physical equipment and maximize student access. Perfect for use in computer labs, classrooms or remote learning environments, allowing multiple learners to engage with automation scenarios at the same time.
Engineering and Automation Education
A valuable asset for teaching control systems, logic development, and process simulation. Enables a smooth transition from theory to application, helping students visualize and test industrial workflows in real time.
Companies with Industrial Training Programs
An effective way to reinforce skills and standardize training across teams. Allows trainees to practice PLC programming and process control safely and repeatedly, ideal for onboarding and continuous learning without impacting production resources.
Share Your Educational Models with Us!
As new scenes are developed, they will be added at no additional cost for all existing users. We’re always looking to enhance our digital twin package by adding more educational models. Is there a specific setup you’d like to see in the simulator? We’d love to hear your suggestions. Share your ideas with us, and we’ll work to include them, making our tool even more valuable for students and professionals.
